Work experience visual diary...
I start my work experience on 4th - 15th of february and in that time I am working at the nursery at the primary school that I used to go to, the school is called Henwick primary and I worked with foundation class and the kids consisted of 4-5 year olds!
I started at 8:45 and finished at 3:30 and I went home for lunch and lunch started at 11:45 so it was about an hour and a half so I had time to do whatever I wanted after I had my lunch but sometimes I went back and helped the members of staff to get everything ready for the afternoon activities!
During my work experience I did various activities like:
-Coming in in the morning and helping the members of staff to get everything ready.
-playing with the kids and helping them to tidy up.
-Going to forest school- its like a woodland walk around the corner of the cafeteria of Henwick primary school.
-Reading to the children.
-Helping the members of staff at the end of the day to tidy up.
-Helping the adults plan the chinese new year assembly play thing that the children were doing.
-Helping the children to practise and get ready for the chinese new year assembly that the children were performing on the last day I was there.
-Painting.
-Drawing.
-Playing in the sand with them.
-Playing with them at break.
Etc, and more.
The thing that I enjoyed the most was seeing the children everyday and that I felt priviledged that they were so happy to see me everymorning and after lunch everyday and that they didnt want me to leave...even for lunch! That sort of shows that I made an impact on them for them wanting me to stay there forever because the children kept asking me 'Emma, are you staying here forever?' that made me proud and happy that they wanted me to stay!
The thing that I didnt enjoy as much was that 1. 2 weeks wasnt long enough and 2. I didn't want to leave because I had such an enjoyable and pleasurable time there, it was so fun and i felt so touched and rewarded when the kids came over and gave me a box of chocolates and a card that they all made and signed!
I learnt quite a few things at my work experience like:
-My independence- Because you go into my work place and he members of staff put all of they're trust into you to be sensible and for you to make the right decisions.
-My listening skills improved because i had to listen to the children, they mostly came to me with they're problems for me to help them with and plus the members of staff came to me to give me tasks to do so i had to listen carefully to what they asked me to do.
Etc, and more.
I loved working outside school because it is a lot less stressful because you do not get coursework ever single day and plus i live across the road to the place I was working and so when i left for lunch i could get home quickly and eat my lunch and still had time to do other stuff after but sometimes i did go back to work earlier than usual because i thought the members of staff could do with some help to organise the afternoon activities.
