Moving images...
Eadweard Muybridge
Muybridge was an English photographer important for his work in photographic studies. His large photographs of Yosemite Valley, California, made him world famous; Muybridge is also known for his work on animal locomotion in 1877 and 1878, which used multiple cameras to capture motion in stop-action photographs (also known as animations.)
Muybridge was the man who used photography to explain how a horse physically moved, he adapted the very latest technology outand he then was able to prove his theory that there was a short period of time where when a horse ran, all four legs was able to be lifted off of the ground which could be classed as being able to fly as shown below!

What are animated gifs?
An animated GIF is a type of graphic image which is designed to play a

Animated GIFs
I am going to experiment with a variety of ways to make still images into moving images over the next few weeks.
An animated GIF is a special type of image which is designed to play a sequence of still images repeatedly. There are now various apps available which make it easier to create animated GIFs. I have been experimenting with one called Mo Pho. This allows you to create either a flipped image or a longer series of stills (a story). The app is displayed below.
The website gifmelter allows you to take the URL of an animated GIF and distort it in unusual ways. The gifmelter app is shown below.

-Me and Blue worked well as a team.
-We took it in turns to be behind the camera then infront of it.
-And we came up with really good idea's.
ebi:
-If we thought more about what we were doing before we did it.
-Could have got others involved that weren't in our photography class.
-Could have been more confident in being infront of the camera.

What is stop motion?
Stop Motion is a technique mostly used in animation where still images (often drawings but sometimes photographs) can be made to appear to move by linking them together at a certain number of frames per second. Here's an example of Sam Taylor-Wood's photographic stop motion animation:

Sam Taylor-Wood's stop motion....This is a time lapse by Sam Taylor-Wood. It has been on display at the Tate Modern.I think this should be considered as art because is shows you the way fruit decays and the pen is a way of documenting out thoughts, but the pen must have dried out eventually, the ink is like fresh thoughts, I think it implies that over time things weaken. I think that this time lapse gives a message that nothing is permanent, not even ink!
This is a time lapse that I found and it is different places set at night, the part I love about this video is that it is all lit up so you focus more on the background the most because that part stands out to me. Considering that it is filmed at night it is nice to have light in the background to reflect the river; So you have the darkness of the sky and the river but have the lights of the buildings in the background creating amazing views and effects. I really like this stop motion because i think it is really creative and imaginative because someone has take ages to draw/paint every single bit of this and took pictures every single step of the way to create some sort of animation. |
What is time lapse?
Time lapse is a technique that photographs a naturally slow process, such as plant growth, on movie film at intervals for example, below is mine and blue's time lapse film, take a look.

Me and blue's time lapse film.Me and Blue took out the iPads at break and film the movement of people in the cafeteria, We used an app called miniatures...We wanted to catch everyone off guard to see what they do when they don't realise that we are filming because we didn't want them to act differently just because we were filming them we wanted to see they're natural actions and reactions when they do not realise that they were in the shot.
