Abstraction...
This project is all about Abstraction, we will be studying what abstraction is and what features are used to make something abstract.
Making something abstract could mean taking something quite boring and making it more interesting by focusing on the foreground and blurring the background, or taking the image at a different angle so it looks more unique but still keeping it as natural as possible. Below are images of some abstract photography.

Abstract photograph...I like this photograph of a shell because its unique, usually when you see a photo of a shell it's the view of the side where you can see the spiral but with this photo it's the new of the bottom of the shell which is quite unusual.

Abstract photograph...This is another example of an abstract photograph, however it is also like a type of multiple image where you place a photo of where it was taken and see how much it has changed since then, it is a very clever way of making an abstract photograph.

Formal Elements of abstract photography...
|
project one - experimenting with formal elements...This slideshow of images is what me and Blue took when we went out of lessons and we decided to focus on one of the formal elements, we chose light and what we did was we found different sources of light, whether it was reflected off of something or just the sun or a light bulb, like shown the the left.
|
1. I am interested in a series of formal elements, more specifically images that contain different interesting patterns, shapes and repetition.
2. I am researching the work of John hinde and Martin Parr (focuses on butlins)
3. Over half term i plan to take over 50 photographs and uploading them to weebly evaluating ones that went well and ones that didnt and what i could to to improve them, i also plan to upload my research and ideas of the above.

My photographs based on Zen Twigs...
My favourite focused photos...
My favourite repetition photos...
Our trip to sucliffe park...
I took all of these photos on the trip to sucliffe park.
4 photos that i think link together...
I think that these 4 photos link together well because they are all photos of wood that have been damages in some way, the first image has a big chunk taken out of the trunk, the second image looks like it has just snapped in half, the third image looks like someone has drilled holes into it and the fourth one has cracked and you can see how hollow it is inside.
Our trip to Margate...
These are the photos that me and Blue took on the DSLR camera on our trip to margate, Blue took most off these as i used the ipod mostly.
Two photos that i think link...
These two photos link because there is a coloured line created by reflected lights going through the middle of the photo.
The photo's i took on the Ipod in margate...
Two photos that link...
These two photos link because they both have a repetitive pattern.
An idea for my final pieces.
For one of my final pieces i am gonna to print off about 4 images of rain that was taken on the DSLR camera and i'm going to stick them onto the window so the light goes through the photos and i will take a photo of them on the window so you can see through the window through the photos; i will experiment with different windows to get a different background.
Below are some of the affects i want to achieve through the rain...
Below are some of the affects i want to achieve through the rain...
The rain on the windows creates a blurry effect on the background in the photo, this is affective because it makes he background more abstract because as it is blurry it distorts the shapes. this is the affect I want to achieve.
Another idea for my final pieces...
Another idea for my final piece is the same as the rain one but instead of using rain images i will use the photos of the sky which i took in sucliffe park, i chose these because there is different shades, colours and shapes.
However i used thin acetate and unfortunately it melted in the printer when i photocopied it but it did create a really good texture when i took photos through it of the sky as shown in the photos below.

Then i decided to take photos through different parts of the melted piece of acetate so it creates different patterns and then experimented with the focus in the images to see what looked best. Below are the photos that i took.
My Final piece
I decided that these four images were the best photos out of them all so I decided to make these my final images, so I printed them out and trimmed them to the right size then I got them mounted onto thick card so I could display them which ever way I wanted when I presented them.
